artist bio

I was raised in Schenectady and now work from my studio in Ballston Spa, NY.  A speech-language pathologist by day, I began making beads four years ago after taking an introductory class in lampworking.  I have always been fascinated by beads, jewelry, adorning my clothing, (and much to my mother’s dismay, playing with fire), and was instantly captivated by this medium of expression.

I use a torch fueled by oxygen and propane to melt and sculpt rods of colorful glass into wearable treasures.  All my glass creations are then properly annealed in a kiln, resulting in beautiful pieces that will last for years.

I am thankful for the support of my family and friends who have provided endless encouragement as I continue refine and cultivate my skills in the medium of hot glass.

I am inspired by nature, children’s literature, pop art, Mexican folk art, and my love of clothing and fabric.  My creative urges frequently strike me during daydreams.  I can regularly be found with my sketch book or scraps of paper trying to capture these ideas, as it is often impossible for my hands to keep up with my imaginative mind and spirit.  My beads and accessories feature bright colors and whimsical embellishments that I hope convey the joy and excitement with which they were created.  I also enjoy collaborating with clients to create custom pieces to suit their sense of style or personalized gifts for someone special.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my work.  I hope you delight in viewing, handling, and wearing my pieces as much as I have enjoyed creating them.  Next time you’re in town, please stop by my studio to see me at work.  I would love to share my enthusiasm with you.
